The Interstellar Treaty Organization (ISTO; pronounced /ˈɪstoʊ/, IS-toe), also called "the Stellar Alliance", is a military alliance established by the signing of the Interstellar Treaty on 22 September 1994. The ISTO headquarters are in Geneva, Switzerland, and the organization constitutes a system of collective defense whereby its member states agree to mutual defense in response to an attack by any external party.
